The North Admiral district is a growing urban center in West Seattle characterized by a diverse mix of single-family and multifamily residences, retail, and open space. Poised to become a centrally-located neighborhood “social hub,” a new four-story, mixed-use building at 2749 California will feature 112 apartments and a new 25,000 SF home to PCC Natural Market.
With an eye towards facilitating a meaningful relationship between the site and its surroundings, the design thoughtfully responds to its context with a unique form and attention to street character.
The building form takes advantage of the site’s proximity to the park to highlight connection to the neighborhood’s open space and reinforce the human scale, including residential terraces, entry plaza, and activated sidewalks at the grocery store.
