HEWITT principal Paul Shema’s understanding of complex client contracts and project insurance requirements complements his significant design and management experience. He is also treasurer of the professional corporation, Hewitt Architecture Inc.
Shema has worked with private and public sector clients. His public work includes principal project management and urban design for numerous transit system projects. Other professional collaborations include mixed-use, residential, commercial, and institutional projects. Shema is a LEED Accredited Professional as well as a member of the AIA and the Seattle Downtown Association.

As a landscape architect and urban designer, HEWITT principal Kris Snider has a passion for in-city streetscapes, pedestrian places, and well-managed projects. As lead of the HEWITT Landscape Studio, Snider’s commitment to consistently delivering innovative design solutions is evident in projects developed for municipalities across the Pacific Northwest.
In addition to serving public sector clients (including numerous parks departments and transportation agencies), Snider has created sustainable urban landscapes for privately developed multi-use projects.
Snider is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Urban Land Institute.

As founding principal, David Hewitt is widely respected for his leadership, design sensibility, and his infectious enthusiam for architecture.
Since 1975, Hewitt has led the firm through the complexities of the public design process for major transportation and institutional projects. He has also provided thoughtful leadership for commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects.
Hewitt has served on numerous civic boards, commissions and professional committees. In response to his accomplishments, the American Institute of Architects selected him for prestigious Fellow status. In 2005, AIA Seattle presented him with the Gold Medal, a distinguished lifetime achievement award.

A thoughtful and experienced architect, HEWITT principal Tim Spelman specializes in the design and project management of major public facilities and master planning projects.
Over the past ten years, Spelman has managed the development of many major public projects, five of which are essential public facilities. The success of those Pacific Northwest projects relied on his exacting commitment to designing effective, buildable, and maintainable facilities.
Spelman is a LEED Accredited Professional as well as a board member of Environmental Works and the Washington Sate Council of Architects. He is a former board member of the AIA Seattle Chapter.

As HEWITT’s managing principal, Kevin Ryden is responsible for coordinating large project teams comprised of diverse disciplines. Ryden is known for his consistent pursuit of effective design solutions for complex and challenging projects as well as for his thoughtful and inclusive leadership style.
His design and project management experience includes mixed-use residential projects, interior architecture, master plans, feasibility studies, museums, and interpretive exhibits.
Ryden is a member of the AIA and the Urban Land Institute. He has also taken the lead in mentoring HEWITT’s young leaders, preparing them to assume greater roles in the future of the firm.
