Remington Court Woonerf Concept Plan

Referencing local musical history, the traffic-calming design of the Remington Court Woonerf takes the shape of a broken bar scale utilizing found objects cased into the paving to add the effect of syncopated notes.

This collaboration with the 12th Avenue Stewards, a local community group, anticipates the changing grain of the neighborhood by setting up the streetscape for flexible public use as a mixture of multi-use buildings is planned for these two blocks. Plaza nodes spread throughout have iconic and playful musical sculptures to identify the corridor and draw the neighborhood into its use. Stormwater treatment is introduced to intercept water that currently floods the neighborhood, turning this former problem into a rainy day visual delight.
