Sound Transit reports increased Link (& Sounder) ridership for Q3 2018
In its Quarterly Performance Report, Sound Transit shows that total ridership in the third quarter of 2018 increased by 2.8% over the same quarter in 2017. There are distinct increases to Link and Sounder ridership with some ridership declines for Tacoma Link and ST Express.
The Link stations with the greatest percentage gains are the Stadium station (29%), Angle Lake (13.6%), Capitol Hill (11.6%), and Othello (10.2%). Sounder station boarding data is not available for specific stations but but it’s clear that Sound Transit’s initiatives to increase trips is appreciated by its riders. Read Sound transit’s full report for more ridership data.
We predict that when the transit-oriented development at Capitol Hill opens in 2019, its ridership numbers will blow away the other stations – at least until new light rail stations open in Roosevelt, Northgate, Judkins Park, Mercer Island, and beyond.
