Project Architect

Our architects are straight-shooter professionals who keep projects on track using sound knowledge of architectural principles and practices. They seek balance between form and function while keeping focus on the people who will engage with the work.

Responsibilities
  • Articulate design and construction concepts graphically in support of project goals
  • Complete accurate production work through all phases of design through completion
  • Coordinate design with affiliated project consultants
  • Coordinate with entitlement and permitting agencies
  • ​Prepare drawings to reflect work directives and change orders ​
  • Resolve project-related technical problems through sound decision-making, judgment, research and collaboration
  • Review and respond to RFIs and Submittals for projects under construction
  • Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews​ as needed​
  • Participate in in-house, project team, and client meetings
  • Participate in coordination​ meetings with contractor and affiliated consultants  as needed​
  • Collaboratively contribute to all team, studio, and firm efforts
Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of experience with significant experience with all stages of project  including design development  and overseeing construction phase work
  • Transportation experience; knowledge of and proven experience working with Sound Transit culture, operations, design standards, and program requirements  is a plus
  • Professional Architect registration; other registrations and certifications (ex. LEED AP) encouraged
  • Professional degree (Master of Architecture, Bachelor of Architecture, or similar)
  • Ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Revit  and CAD is required
  • Must be a US citizen or hold a US work visa

Project Manager - Architecture

Responsibilities
  • Plan and develop projects of medium to large scopes of work
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets and schedules
  • Lead project team and client meetings

  • 10+ years of experience with significant project management and design development experience; sustainable design experience with LEED Certification is a plus

Specifications Writer

Our Specifications Writer is a veritable encyclopedia of knowledge about industry standards, current product development, and architectural practices. They are excited about the opportunity to work with specifications in the public and private sector supporting architecture, interior design, and interior design projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop specifications for complex technical projects
  • Work closely with project teams to formulate the Firms specification processes and standards, develop and maintain Firms custom specification masters and inserts
  • Research and make available specification technical resource tools to project teams and individuals involved in the production of specifications
Qualifications
  • A professional degree in architecture preferred.
  • Architectural license, LEED accreditation, and certification as specification writer preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in all phases of architecture and experience in the preparation of construction documents, with an emphasis on the preparation of construction specifications on large-scale projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes, construction techniques and costs, as well as building material compatibility and characteristics.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry standards, current product development, and architectural practices.
  • Working knowledge of contract language, liability, indemnifications, and definitions.
  • Experience with both public sector and private sector specifications and bidding processes.
  • Experience with BSD SpecLink and Microsoft Word.
  • Familiarity with specifications for architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design projects is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of professional practice issues and documents relating to specifications, including special requirements for front-end specifications.

Senior Marketing Coordinator

HEWITT is a Seattle-based integrated practice of architects, landscape architects and urban designers with a passion for places that connect people. We work with clients to create places that elevate the urban environment and enrich the everyday life of citizens.

We are looking for a Senior Marketing Coordinator who is skilled at both public and private marketing efforts, will assist in increasing our visibility, will provide market and client research, and will edit and create engaging copy with substance for our promotional materials.

Responsibilities

In this position you will work closely with firm leadership and our existing Marketing Coordinator to coordinate the preparation of collateral materials, including qualifications packages, proposals, interview materials, award submittals, website content, brochures, advertising, print publications, market and client research, etc. Preparation includes brainstorming, editing, writing, formatting/layout, proofreading, and administrative production roles. Strong writing and editing skills are critical, including the ability to proofread and rewrite to clearly convey the firm’s messages and themes.

You will also oversee our existing Marketing Coordinator’s daily activities and support our marketing efforts, by organizing and maintaining a variety of archived information (staff resumes, project descriptions, proposal boilerplate materials, client information, etc.). You work with staff members throughout the firm on various projects on an as-needed basis.

You must be able to drive the completion of projects independently while collaborating with an internal team of principals, project managers, graphic designers, and other professional staff, ensuring that goals and deadlines are met.

Qualifications
  • A/E/C industry experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry terminology and delivery methods.

  • Excellent writing (including capabilities in spelling, grammar, and sentence structure), editing, and research skills.

  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic Adobe Photoshop skills.
  • A high level of organizational, sense of humor and interpersonal skills.
  • Grace under pressure since the work is frequently performed under rigid time constraints with a narrow margin for errors or delays.
  • Ability to oversee social media content distribution by PR staff members as a means of reinforcing the firm’s identity; platforms include Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and a blog.
  • Experience with databases and systems to readily archive and retrieve information as well as facilitate producing high-quality documents.
  • A business development perspective, including researching market trends and expanding sectors and implementing firm initiatives.
