As part of a larger civic master plan initiative, HEWITT designed the renovation of Albert Davis Park to be integrated with a new public plaza and an existing community center. The park contains a multi-purposed lawn and kids play structure, long desired by park patrons. A linear public art piece located along the central axis of the plaza runs into the park. A separate, quiet ‘reading garden’ was created underneath the high canopies of existing mature trees. Pedestrian lighting was added throughout as was a variety of seating areas.
HEWITT revised a previous master plan concept by developing a scheme that saved existing park trees, placed parking underground immediately adjacent to the library and community center, and created an on-structure plaza atop the garage.
